BEfore Troubleshooting

Try these methods:

  • Attempt to manually sync your data by holding down on the silver rectangular button on your Garmin watch. Hold the button until you see data transmission symbol with a dot and 3 curved lines. Visit X for more information.

  • Make sure the Bluetooth on your smart device is turned on. Confirm this via your settings menu.

  • Make sure the Garmin Connect app is downloaded on your smart device. Go to your list of apps and look for the ‘Connect’ app, which appears alphabetically under ‘c’.

  • Make sure the “Background data” toggle button is turned on for the Garmin Connect app. See “Garmin vivofit 4 Set-Up and Connection” document for instructions on these steps.

Common syncing issues and solutions to solving them:

  • Your Garmin watch is able to record activity, but your current step counts are not appearing in the Garmin Connect app because the watch will not sync to your smart device. However, you still see your Garmin watch listed in the Garmin Connect home screen.

    • Start at Method 1 (pg. 2)

  • Your Garmin watch is not responding (Not recording activity, not displaying the correct time, not receiving alerts):

    • Start at Method 3 (pg. 3)

  • Your Garmin watch does not appear on the Garmin Connect home screen:

    • Go to Method 4.I (pg. 3)

  • Re-pairing your Garmin watch to a new or existing smart device:

    • Go to Method 4.II (pg. 4)

If you’re not sure which of the above issues is the cause, start at Method 1 below and move down the list if your issue remains.

  5. From the “Compatible Devices” screen, select “vivo” then scroll down and select “vivofit 4” on the next screen.

  7. If your Garmin watch is not already in pairing mode, press and hold the button until the “Wi-Fi Symbol” appears on your watch screen. This will allow your Garmin watch to pair with the Garmin Connect app.

  8. Once your Garmin watch pairs with the Garmin Connect app, you will see a confirmation message indicating that the app is “Pairing Your vivofit 4 Device”. When you are confident that your watch has been identified by the app, select “Connect it” and confirm the action with “OK”.

  9. A “Pair with vivofit 4?” pop-up box will appear when connecting your Garmin watch. Enter the 6-digit code that appears on your watch into the pop-up box and select “OK”.

  10. After being successfully paired, the next screen should say “Well Done” and you can select “Next”.

  12. The following two screens will prompt you to “Set some Goals” and allow “Calendar Access”. These settings can also be completed as desired, or you can select “Skip” through each screen.

  13. When prompted to “Sync your device”, select “Next”. Press and hold the button on your Garmin watch until you see the “Wi-Fi Symbol”. Once the sync icon appears on your Garmin watch, it should automatically sync to the Garmin Connect app. (The “Syncing now” screen will appear if done correctly.)

  14. Once the syncing is done, the “You are all set!” screen will appear. Select “Finish”.

  15. The next two screens will prompt you to “Learn More” about your Garmin watch. Select “Skip” then “Finish” to complete the pairing of your Garmin watch.
