Community Interventions for Northeast Kansas City​

In partnership with BikeWalkKC, our team developed and evaluated programs targeted to educate and promote bicycling around Kansas City.

Temporary Pedestrian Streetscapes

​

Through the use of quick build streetscapes, our team evaluated pedestrian traffic at two intersections in low-income neighborhoods. Findings of this project aid the understanding of current barriers to pedestrian traffic and promotion of physical activity.

Earn-a-Bike Education Program​

​

This program assessed the impacts of an education and bike gifting program on the amount of physical activity performed by grade school children. Our team delivered this program to 5th graders at three low-income urban schools. Results of this project showed an increase in physical activity for all children and indicated further opportunities for education of both children and parents.
