Social Support
Family and friends can play an important role in helping you achieve your goals. Be open with your loved ones and don't be afraid to ask for help. You don't have to do this all on your own!
Check out these tips for some ideas on how family and friends can be included in your activity goals.
Being active Together
Having someone else around can make being active easier and more fun! Find a family member or friend and schedule a time when you can be active together. Going for a walk, hiking, or riding bikes together can be a great way to spend quality time together while being active.
Motivation
Share your goals and progress with others so they can celebrate with you! Family and friends want to help you succeed in your goals, be open with them and let them help you find your motivation. Encouragement from others can help remind us of why we are working toward a goal in the first place.
Accountability
Maintaining motivation can be difficult when we only rely on ourselves to keep moving. Recruit a friend or family member to check in on your progress and remind you to be active! If they are able, consider asking them to be active with you. Having an exercise partner and a set day and time to be active is a great way to maintain accountability.
Teaching new skills
Do you want to try a new activity but have no idea where to start? Ask someone you know to teach you! Family and friends are valuable resources to learn new things and time spent together learning the skill is time spent being active!
